Our wallets will get a bit of a rest in April as the month is very lite on Western films coming out on physical media. To be specific, there is only one planned release!
On April 21st, UK-based Treasured Films will be releasing A Man Called Blade (1977) aka Mannaja on Blu-ray – the first time for this film on HD format in the States. The release features a new 2k restoration from the original camera negative as well as a handful of bonus features, including:
- A new interview with director Sergio Martino
- A new Q&A session with Sergio filmed at Weird Worcester in June of 2025
- A new interview with actress Martine Brochard
- A new interview with actor/stuntman Ottaviano Dell’Acqua
- Archival featurette A Man Called Sergio
- plus more TBA
This should be nice upgrade over the 20-year-old Blue Underground DVD, though at the time of this post the pre-order pricing seems a bit steep. But, given that there are no other releases for April, what else are we going to spend our monthly new release budget on?
